EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The City annually applies for grants administered by the Department of Resources, Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) for the City/County Payment Program to implement eligible beverage container recycling and litter reduction projects. The City of Redondo Beach has been awarded $17,108 in FY 2025-26 grant funds.
BACKGROUND
Annually, the Public Works Department applies to CalRecycle for the City/County Payment Program. The FY 2025-26 allocation is $17,108. If approved, this action would appropriate the funds to the Intergovernmental Grants Fund for use by the Public Works Department for eligible grant expenses. The grant provides funding for California local governments to implement beverage container recycling and litter reduction projects. The Public Works Solid Waste Division administers this grant and intends to utilize the funds to purchase water bottle filling stations and beverage container recycling receptables for public spaces in the City.
COORDINATION
In accordance with City policy, the Public Works Department will coordinate grant administration with the Financial Services Department. The Resolution has been approved as to form by the City Attorney’s Office.
FISCAL IMPACT
The City has received $17,108 in City/County Payment Program grant funds to be appropriated to the Intergovernmental Grants Fund if approved.
