General Updates
• Staff have almost completed a comprehensive inventory of the museum collection, including items stored in attic at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center (“RBPAC”). Final items to identify/inventory are included in cabinets at RBPAC. Staff estimate this project to be completed by the end of October.
• Museum docents are in the process of replacing old, faded and difficult to read labels on artifacts on display, using consistent fonts commonly used in museums to improve overall professionalism and legibility.
• Museum docents have created another promotional flyer, attached, which will be distributed throughout city facilities including the senior centers, teen center, RBPAC, and the Artesia Office; and the Cultural Arts web page. Additionally, staff will reach out to the Chamber of Commerce about posting on their website and social media accounts, as well as area businesses for posting. Dana Vinke, Library Director, has offered to post at both public Libraries, also.
• Museum docent Zander Hardy created a scavenger hunt-based game, Museum BINGO, for the museum’s littlest visitors to stimulate their interest and provide a fun activity that they'll associate with the museum. Participants can receive a paper game board that includes photos of various museum pieces that the children seek out and learn about. When they have completed their card, they receive a sticker of the City seal, or Halloween-themed sticker in October.

• Staff are investigating ways to attach additional items to walls/ceiling and enable additional display space.
• Staff are continuing to work with the City’s Research Librarian to identify significant historical items at RBPAC for scanning and posting.
• Text and photo selection is approaching completion for Ito Family historical markers. The Community Service Department’s graphic artist will prepare design for three markers when photos/text finalized. Multiple quotes for manufacture of markers have been received.
• The City’s Information Technology team has upgraded and improved the Museum internet connectivity, allowing display of historical videos to resume,
• The City is working to:
o Convert the museum’s lighting systems to energy efficient LED lighting
o Restore non-functional display case lighting, also with LEDs
