BACKGROUND
In March 2023, the Recreation and Parks Commission, which was consolidated into the Public Amenities Commission (Commission) in 2024, approved a Volunteer and Employee Acknowledgement Program that was developed and presented by the Volunteer Acknowledgement Program Subcommittee (Subcommittee). This program was developed to identify and celebrate those whose volunteer service has positively impacted the City’s parks and greenspaces. Included as an attachment is the program’s current guidelines and information document, which outlines the various award categories, requirements for eligibility, the review and selection process, and recognition opportunities.
Staff received an application for Jack Rajcic, attached to this report. This application has been reviewed by the Subcommittee, who supports formal acknowledgment of his volunteer efforts.
Jack Rajcic was nominated due to his ongoing commitment to outstanding service as the President of Redondo Beach Sunset, a youth baseball and softball league. Jack’s efforts within the organization are demonstrated in the organized and extraordinary management of league operations, which often include a myriad of responsibilities from coordinating schedules, overseeing snack shack operations, equipment and supply orders, fundraising, organizing coaches, etc.
A copy of the Subcommittee Review Form is attached, which outlines the Subcommittee’s justification for its recommendation. If approved, formal recognition would take place at a subsequent Commission meeting.
Staff recommends the Commission consider the Subcommittee’s recommendation to formally acknowledge Jack Rajcic for his volunteer efforts.
