PRESENTATION BY RIVIERA VILLAGE ASSOCIATION INTRODUCING A PROPOSAL FOR STREET PAVEMENT/CROSSWALK ART IN RIVIERA VILLAGE WITH POSSIBLE DISCUSSION

end

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Riviera Village Association (RVA), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, will present their proposal to install street pavement crosswalk art in the Riviera Village Business Improvement District for consideration and input from Cultural Arts Commission (CAC).  Although the project will be fully funded by RVA and no specific request is being made at this time, CAC input is welcomed.

BACKGROUND

The Riviera Village Association (RVA) is the City of Redondo Beach-appointed advisory board for the Redondo Beach Riviera Business Improvement District, formed by the business community of the Riviera Village as a means to maintain and improve the physical surroundings of the Village, as well as the business environment in the community.  RVA addresses these objectives by pursuing activities such as physical improvements, beautification efforts, general maintenance, advertising and promotion, volunteer activities, staging of events such as the annual Summer Festival, weekly Farmers Market, etc., and involvement in the City and community development efforts.

RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that CAC receive and file the presentation, and possibly offer input.
