EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
On May 7, 2024, the City Council awarded American Asphalt South, Inc. (American Asphalt South) a public works contract for $484,044.77 for construction of the Citywide Slurry Seal Project, Phase 4, Job No. 41140 (Project). The Project is now complete and ready for City Council acceptance and authorization to release the final retention amount of $23,416.20 to the contractor upon expiration of the 35-day lien period and there being no claims filed.
During construction, it was determined that alternative asphalt repair methods could be implemented in preparation for the slurry seal in some locations. This resulted in $15,720.60 of project labor and material savings and brough the final contract expenditure total down to $468,324.17. A portion of the project savings will be used to install additional street striping in certain locations that will be performed by a street striping contractor who is scheduled to begin work in the City in December.
