BACKGROUND
The State of California and the City of Redondo Beach both have laws, policies and procedures related to preventing conflicts of interest within elected and appointed legislative bodies. The attached “Administrative Policy and Procedure” (APP) builds upon those regulations to set forth standards of behavior for the Cultural Arts Commission.
This APP establishes guidelines to ensure that members of the Cultural Arts Commission and related advisory bodies comply with California's Conflict of Interest laws. It aims to promote transparency, integrity, and impartiality in recommendations regarding public art projects. The policy outlines disqualifying financial and apparent conflicts of interest and mandates adherence to strict ethical standards to maintain public trust in the selection of artists and public artworks.
This APP was created in collaboration with the City Attorney’s Office, and the content and form have been reviewed and approved by the City Attorney’s Office.
