EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Police Department has been awarded a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) in an amount of $35,000 to participate in the Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Program, for strategies to reduce the number of persons injured in accidents involving pedestrian and bicyclists. Activities will include bicycle rodeos, safety and maintenance inspections, community presentations, educational materials, and participation in national safety campaigns. The grant term runs from October 1, 2026 through September 30, 2027. No matching funds are required from the City. The grant funds will be distributed to the City on a reimbursement basis.
BACKGROUND
The mission of California OTS is to administer traffic safety grants that deliver innovative programs and eliminate traffic fatalities and injuries on California roadways. The goal of the Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Grant Program is to reduce the number of persons injured in accidents involving pedestrians and bicyclists.
