EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Staff recommends the approval of a project services agreement to purchase and upfit two Fire Paramedic Squad trucks (2027 Ram 4500 Chassis Cab Big Horn 4x2 Crew Cab) for use by the Fire Department, replacing Units 135 and 136, which have reached the end of their scheduled life cycle. These replacements were authorized as part of the FY 2026-27 budget adoption. Competitive pricing for the vehicles was obtained through a Request for Proposal process.
BACKGROUND
In June 2026, the City Council approved FY 2026-27 Decision Package #13 Scheduled Vehicle Replacement, which included funding for the purchase of two Fire Department Paramedic Squad units (Units 135 and 136) that have reached the end of their scheduled life cycle. Staff recommends the purchase of two Paramedic Squad units (2027 Ram 4500 Chassis Cab Big Horn 4x2 Crew Cab) at a quoted cost of $571,365.44. The vehicles will be upfit as Fire Paramedic Squad trucks and will meet the operational needs of the Fire Department. If approved, delivery of the vehicles is anticipated to be in the next nine to ten months.
Staff issued a Request for Proposal (RFP 2526-006) and received five submissions. The five proposals were evaluated for responsiveness, qualifications, and cost. 72 Hour LLC, dba Watsonville Fleet Group, submitted the proposal with the best combination of price and qualifications.
