BACKGROUND

At the Harbor Commission meeting of August 10, 2026, the Commission received a written public comment from resident Bryan Stone requesting that the Commission recommend to City Council a targeted amendment to the Municipal Code allowing amplified music on recreational vessels in the main channel of the King Harbor without requiring an individual special permit or variance.  Mr. Stone’s letter included proposed ordinance language for the Commission’s consideration.  Following receipt of this comment, Commissioners requested that the topic be agendized for further discussion.

This item has been prepared to provide the Commission an opportunity to discuss the request and consider whether to forward a letter of recommendation to City Council.
