EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Redondo Beach Boulevard (RBB) Traffic Signal Synchronization Program (TSSP) is a traffic signal improvement program led by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works (LACDPW) and funded largely through the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro). The goal of the program is to improve traffic signal synchronization and traffic flow along corridors that cross multiple jurisdictions. Staff worked with the LACDPW design team to address signal improvements along RBB within the City's jurisdiction at Artesia Blvd. LACDPW has incorporated the comments from City staff into the final design and the plan set is now ready for approval by our jurisdiction, which is required prior to the solicitation of construction contracts. Staff recommends approval of the plans and specifications, which are available for review in the office area of the Engineering Services Division at City Hall.

BACKGROUND
The TSSP helps local agencies upgrade traffic signals and improve traffic signal timing around the County, especially along corridors that cross multiple jurisdictions. Some examples of TSSP corridors in the City are Artesia Boulevard and Inglewood Avenue. This particular TSSP spans Redondo Beach Blvd. between Artesia Blvd. and Vermont Avenue. The only component of the project that is within Redondo Beach is the traffic signal upgrade at RBB and Artesia Boulevard, which is shared with Lawndale. LACDPW also provides maintenance support at this intersection.
