APPROVE THE PURCHASE OF 20 REPLACEMENT WALKWAY LIGHT POLES AND FIXTURES FROM SOUTH COAST LIGHTING AND DESIGN FOR VETERANS PARK AT A COST OF $93,068
end
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The FY 2026-27 Approved Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Budget includes funding for Project #31020, Regional Park Walkway Lighting Replacement. Public Works recommends replacing 20 light poles and fixtures at Veterans Park that have reached the end of their useful life. To maintain consistency with the existing lighting in the Pier area, Public Works recommends a sole-source purchase of matching light poles and fixtures from South Coast Lighting and Design, the vendor previously approved for the Pier Lighting Project.
BACKGROUND
On April 20, 2021, the City Council authorized the purchase of 150 street light poles and fixtures from South Coast Lighting and Design following Bid No. 2021-003. South Coast Lighting and Design was the lowest responsible bidder, and the purchase was approved as part of CIP Project No. 70700.
To maintain consistency with the adjacent Pier area's lighting design, Public Works recommends purchasing the Veterans Park light poles and fixtures from the same vendor to ensure a matching product. The material information sheet for the light poles and fixtures is attached. If approved, Public Works Operations crews will install the new light poles and fixtures.
COORDINATION
This item was coordinated with the Public Works Department and the Financial Services Department.
FISCAL IMPACT
The cost to complete the purchase is $93,068. Funds for the Project were approved in the City’s Capital Improvement Program as part of the Regional Park Walkway Lighting Replacement Project - Account #31020.
