DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING THE CONTINUATION OF THE NORTH REDONDO BEACH FARMERS MARKET AS A YEAR-ROUND PROGRAM ON GREEN LANE BETWEEN ARTESIA BOULEVARD AND VANDERBILT LANE
end
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The North Redondo Beach Farmers Market (NRBFM), organized by OurNRB, a local nonprofit organization, began operations on April 22, 2026 as a six-month pilot program intended to support community gathering, local businesses, and revitalization of the Artesia and Aviation Corridors Area Plan (AACAP) area. The pilot program is scheduled to conclude on October 28, 2026.
OurNRB has requested that the City Council allow the market to continue as a year-round program. The organizers report that the market has established a regular customer base, provides opportunities for community organizations to engage with residents, and generates sufficient proceeds for sustainable market operation and the potential to support improvements in the AACAP area.
This report provides an overview of the pilot program, summarizes the organizers’ request and reported results, and identifies operational, financial, and public-facility considerations associated with year-round operation. Representatives of OurNRB will be present at the Council meeting to provide additional information and to respond to questions. Staff is supportive of OurNRB’s request to continue market operation.
