EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Redondo Beach Police and Fire Foundation maintains a Grant Program that periodically awards funding, in the form of charitable donations, to provide "resources and support to the Redondo Beach Police and Fire Departments." The Fire Department recently applied for grant funding, and received a $20,308.16 donation to support the purchase of four Seek Pro+ thermal imaging cameras provided by Seek Thermal Inc. (Seek Thermal). Approval of this item would formally appropriate the grant funding and allow the Department to purchase the new thermal imaging cameras.

BACKGROUND
Seek Thermal provides state-of-the-art thermal imaging cameras that enhance first responders' ability to respond effectively to fire incidents and to perform rescue operations. These thermal imaging cameras help identify the location of victims, the fire's origin, and the extent of the spread - all of which are typically hindered in limited visibility conditions that are often present in emergency situations. By eliminating visual confusion and delays while on-scene, these thermal imaging cameras enhance the safety of first responders in high-risk conditions, as well as the effectiveness in responding to the scene of a fire. This improved capability helps reduce risks to both life and property during fire incidents.
