DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING THE PROPOSED CITY FACILITY NAMING POLICY
end
BACKGROUND
On September 8, 2026, staff presented a proposed draft of a City Facility Naming Policy to the City Council. The draft policy was developed by the Naming Policy Subcommittee, which included Mayor Light, Councilmembers Obagi and Behrendt, Waterfront and Community Services Director Elizabeth Hause, and Assistant to the City Manager Jane Chung. Following the presentation, the City Council provided feedback and directed staff to present the item to the Public Amenities Commission, given the Commission’s proposed role in reviewing Neighborhood Facility Naming Applications.
Staff recommends that the Commission provide feedback on its proposed role and direct staff to return to the City Council with a resolution to formally adopt and implement the City Facility Naming Policy.
