EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The North Redondo Beach Bikeway is a concrete bikeway that is aligned through a Southern California Edison (SCE) transmission corridor across several assessor parcels. Currently, the bikeway connects the 2500 block of Robinson Street to the 1600 block of Felton Lane. This project proposes to extend the bikeway for two additional parcels from Felton Lane to Inglewood Avenue through the SCE corridor.

The plans and specifications for the project are complete, approved by SCE and ready for competitive bidding, which will commence following Council consideration and approval.

BACKGROUND
SCE maintains a series of electrical transmission towers that form a utility corridor in North Redondo Beach on parcels owned by SCE and publicly used via license by the City. SCE maintains strict control over use and development on the parcels to ensure there is adequate space for utility crews to access the towers and wires for both regular maintenance and in response to unscheduled system needs.

To support bicycle movement through the City, a continuous concrete bikeway has been established within the utility corridor to maximize use of the predominantly undeveloped land. The travel orientation of the bikeway is primarily north-south until south of Rockefeller Lane when it transitions to an east-west alignment. It is frequently traversed by residents, young and old, who walk and bike along the pathway, which serves as an efficient local route to navigate through North Redondo Beach.
