EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Police Department has been awarded a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) in the amount of $179,000 to participate in the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP). Traffic enforcement activities will include saturation patrol directed at alcohol and drug impaired drivers, primary collision factor enforcement, distracted driver operations, motorcycle enforcement operations, bicycle and pedestrian operations, seatbelt enforcement operations, driver's license and sobriety checkpoints, and officer training on traffic safety laws, along with bicycle rodeos and safety presentations. The grant term runs from October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026. No matching funds are required from the City, and all grant funds will be distributed to the City on a reimbursement basis.
