RECOMMENDATION
Discussion and possible action on selecting Eric Michael to create companion artwork for the large utility box at 190th and Prospect.
BACKGROUND
The Commission is currently in the process of selecting artwork for the 10 utility boxes that were selected at the September 23, 2020 Commission meeting.
At the September meeting, during discussions on which 10 boxes to select, Commissioner Klein recommended selecting the large utility box at 190th and Prospect. After discussion, former Director LaRock noted that in addition to choosing a new artist for that box, the Commission also had the option to request that staff contact the artist of the adjacent small utility box to see if they were interested in creating complementary artwork for the large box.
As this box was not selected, the discussion was tabled. At the November 18, 2020 meeting, Chair Lapin re-opened this discussion and made a recommendation to staff to add an agenda item to the January 27, 2021 meeting regarding Eric Michael and the companion piece for the large utility box for an upcoming round of installations.
