EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
On December 9, 2021 the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA) Board approved the Traffic Signal Communications and Network System Project and allocated $2,000,000 of Regional Measure M funds to the City of Redondo Beach. The funding Agreement has a project completion date of June 30, 2022. A portion of these funds were approved by the City Council to address completion of the Grant Avenue Traffic Signal Project, Project No. 41090. The remaining funds are identified for traffic signal improvements on Torrance Blvd. and Manhattan Beach Blvd. The first amendment extends the project lapsing date to June 30, 2024 to allow for completion of the above projects.
BACKGROUND
Measure M is a one-half cent sales tax approved by Los Angeles County voters in November 2016 to meet the transportation, highway, and transit needs of Los Angeles County. The City of Redondo Beach received $2,000,000 from LACMTA in Measure M Highway Program funds for the Traffic Signal and Network System project endorsed by the Infrastructure Working Group of the South Bay Cities Council of Governments (SBCCOG).
The grant funds are identified for upgrades to the City's traffic signal system technology and the use of Intelligent Transportation Systems to enhance traffic signal infrastructure and allow for integration into an advanced traffic signal network/communications system.
