BACKGROUND

At the Commission’s January 18, 2023 meeting, Chairperson Maroko announced that a celebration of the City’s 131st birthday would be held at the Historical Museum on April 29, 2023. The Commission discussed holding the event in conjunction with an art exhibit featuring original artwork by Caesar Hernandez from the collection of Steve Colin. Caesar Hernandez was a resident of Redondo Beach and a longtime art teacher at Redondo Union High School. Many of his pieces in the Colin collection depict iconic locations throughout Redondo Beach. Commissioners will discuss what the day’s activities will include. They may also recommend to the Community Services Director that funds be allocated from the Historical Museum Account ($9,497.01 currently available) to support those activities.
