BACKGROUND
On May 13, 2025, the City Council approved a consulting agreement with LBP Consulting, LLC (LBP) to complete the first phase of improvements on Artesia Blvd. This phase includes developing a comprehensive public art plan (Plan) for the Artesia corridor, spanning from Inglewood Avenue to Aviation Blvd. Additionally, LBP would manage all phases of the implementation of a minimum of three public art installations along Artesia Blvd. within the $450,000 budget previously allocated by City Council, which includes $45,000 for LBP's consulting services.
A critical component to this project is the development of the Plan, which outlines the purpose, vision, and recommendations for future public art installations along Artesia Blvd. LBP worked collectively with staff throughout the past few months to conduct community outreach, including an online survey, stakeholder meetings, and a community meeting held at the North Branch Library. Staff and LBP were encouraged by the number of responses, the thoughtful input and suggestions, and overall interest in making the project successful. This input helped to inform the recommendations that are included in the Plan and part of the Cultural Arts Commission's (Commission) consideration.
Attached is the proposed Artesia Blvd. Strategic Art Plan, which provides detailed information on the public outreach efforts and the community input that informed the recommended locations for future art installations.
