BACKGROUND
In November 2025, the Youth Commission (Commission) identified electric bikes (E-bikes) as its main focus for 2026, specifically on their safe use, issues related to recent vandalism, rules and regulations, and best practices. In response, staff has reached out to representatives from the Redondo Beach Police Department to provide a presentation to the Commission regarding this important topic and to share foundational information that will inform the Commission’s next steps regarding E-bikes.
Staff recommends that the Commission receive and file the presentation by the Redondo Beach Police Department and provide direction to staff regarding desired next steps regarding E-bike use in the city.
