EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The California Office of Traffic Safety awarded a grant in the amount of $100,000 to the City of Redondo Beach to participate in their "Selective Traffic Enforcement Program" (S.T.E.P). Officers will perform saturation patrols directed at drunk and drug impaired drivers, primary collision factor enforcement, distracted driver operations, motorcycle enforcement operations, bicycle and pedestrian operations, seatbelt enforcement operations, schools for the training of officers, public education for blood alcohol levels, and driver's license and sobriety checkpoints during the period of October 1 2021 to September 30, 2022. The award is a reimbursement grant with no matching funds required.

BACKGROUND
The goal of the "Selective Traffic Enforcement Program" campaign is to reduce the number of persons killed and injured in crashes involving alcohol, speed, red light violations, and other primary collision factors. These grant fund will increase the level of enforcement for these collision factors on an overtime basis for supervisors and officers and provide funds for administrative time needed to meet the grant reporting requirements.
